Canine Infectious Gastrointestinal Disease (CIGD) is a high-contact infectious disease that is spread primarily through the feces of infected dogs. Canine microvirus, canine coronavirus and Giardia canis are the common pathogens that cause gastrointestinal diseases.
What canine microvirus, canine coronavirus and Giardia caninum have in common?
Affect the gastrointestinal tract of dogs: All three pathogens cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting and loss of appetite. Canine microvirus primarily causes severe hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, canine coronavirus causes mild to moderate gastroenteritis, and Giardia canis causes parasitic gastroenteritis.
Highly contagious: All three pathogens are highly contagious and spread easily and rapidly in dog populations. Transmission occurs through direct contact with feces, vomit or contaminated items from infected dogs.
Common in Puppies: Puppies are less resistant to these pathogens because their immune systems are not yet fully developed, so they are susceptible to infection and symptoms are usually severe. Adult dogs can also be infected, but symptoms are usually mild or carried asymptomatically.
Need for good hygiene: The key to preventing infection by these three pathogens is to maintain good hygiene, including a clean environment, regular disinfection, and avoiding exposure of the dog to sources of infection. Prompt cleanup of canine feces reduces the spread of pathogens in the environment.
Multi-systemicity affecting canine health: Although primarily affecting the gastrointestinal tract, infection with these pathogens may result in systemic symptoms such as fever, weakness and dehydration in dogs.
The significance of combined testing for canine microvirus, canine coronavirus, and Giardia canis Provides a comprehensive health assessment
Comprehensive understanding of the infection: Dogs may be infected with multiple pathogens at the same time. Combined testing can provide a comprehensive understanding of a dog’s infection and provide a basis for developing a comprehensive treatment plan. It helps to identify concurrent infections and improve the targeting and effectiveness of treatment.
One test, multiple results: Through a single sampling and Parvo-Test, the results of canine parvovirus test kit, canine Coronavirus-Test and canine Giardia canis can be obtained at the same time, saving time and resources.
Improved disease management and control
Timely preventive and control measures: Through parvo/coronavirus/giardia test for dogs, infection cases can be detected in a timely manner, and isolation and treatment measures can be taken quickly to prevent the spread of pathogens in the dog population. Improving the efficiency of disease surveillance helps to control outbreaks at an early stage.
Reduce the risk of cross-infection: parvo testing/coronavirus testing/giardia test helps to identify potential cases of multiple infections, take comprehensive prevention and control measures, and reduce the risk of cross-infection among dogs. Provides a scientific basis to guide the management of epidemic prevention and control in places such as kennels, dog farms and animal hospitals.
Reduce medical costs
Reduce the cost of repeated testing: Combo Test auf Giardien, coronavirus and parvovirus can reduce the number of repeated sampling and testing, reducing testing costs and related labor and material costs. Improve the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment, and reduce the additional medical costs caused by disease delays.
Optimize resource allocation: Joint giardia test dogs can help veterinarians rationally allocate medical resources, focus their efforts and resources on confirmed cases, and improve the overall level of medical services. Reduce the economic burden of dog owners and pet hospitals, and improve the economic benefits of disease prevention and control.
