Prepare samples: Prepare fresh samples of canine conjunctiva, nasal cavity, saliva and other secretions according to the test for distemper in dogs instructions. Samples should be collected in such a way as to avoid contamination and to ensure the accuracy of the sample.

Restore room temperature: If the cdv ag test and samples are stored in a cold environment, it is recommended to restore them to room temperature (usually 15~30℃) before use to ensure the accuracy of the test results.

2. Steps of use

Sample Collection

Gently collect the sample from the conjunctiva, nasal cavity or mouth of the dog using a sterile cotton swab or sampling stick.

Immediately insert the swab into a collection tube containing sample buffer (diluent) and mix well to dissolve the sample in the buffer.

Tear the package of distemper test kit

Tear open the foil pouch of the cdv test kit, remove the test and place it on a flat, clean simple work surface.

Drip the sample

Using the appropriate sampling dropper or pipette, draw an appropriate amount of sample supernatant from the collection tube (be careful to avoid inhaling air bubbles or solid impurities).

Drop the sample vertically and slowly into the sample filling hole (usually labelled “S” hole) of the test card, the amount of drop is determined according to the instructions.

3. Wait for results

Allow the card to stand at room temperature for a certain period of time (usually 10 minutes) before observing the results. Results after the specified time may not be valid.

4. Interpretation of results

Negative result: If there is only one red band at the quality control line (C line) and no band at the test line (T line), then no canine distemper virus antigen has been detected in the sample and the result is negative.

Positive result: If a red band appears at both the QC line and the detection line, the sample is positive for the presence of canine distemper virus antigen.

Invalid result: If no red band appears at the QC line, the test is invalid regardless of whether a band appears at the detection line. Sample collection and canine distemper test kit should be repeated.

Precautions

Sample Handling: Samples should be tested as soon as possible after collection to avoid the deterioration of the samples that may affect the test results after a long period of time.

Handling: gloves and other protective equipment should be worn during the operation to avoid direct contact with animal secretions causing cross-infection.

Interpretation of results: results of canine distemper virus test kit should be combined with clinical symptoms and other diagnostic information to make a comprehensive judgement, and further laboratory tests can be performed to confirm the diagnosis if necessary.

Proper disposal of waste: Used test cards, swabs, collection tubes and other waste should be disposed of properly in accordance with local environmental requirements.

Please note that the above steps are for reference only and should be used in accordance with the instructions of the purchased product.
